Biographical Text

The Human Performance Center at Dickinson State University was made possible through the generosity of Ben C. Frank. The center features the Trappier running speed, explosiveness, strength, flexibility and conditioning through flexibility training, treadmill running, strength training and plyometrics. The facility is located in the basement of Wienbergen Hall.

Frank is a Dickinson native who attended St Joseph's Grade School. He graduated from Dickinson High School in 1959 and from Dickinson State College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in business in 1964.

In 1969, he went to work for the Comptroller of the Currency as a national bank examiner, and during his tenure there he also attended a three-year study program at the Pacific Coast Banking School in Seattle, Washington. Frank retired in 1992.

Because he had to work while he was attending college, Frank was unable to participate in any organized athletic endeavor. "I'm a firm believer in physical fitness," he said. "I feel anything I can do for the college to promote physical fitness and give the kids an edge in athletics is worthwhile."

Mr. Frank was frequently seen walking in Wienbergen Hall, and leads a walking group in the winter. In addition to his bequest which funded the Human Performance Center, Frank has endowed ten scholarships at the university. Mr. Frank has received the Blue Hawk Booster Loyalty Award in recognition of his contributions.
